San José State University’s BFA Graphic Design program proudly invites you to PREFLIGHT: a three-day-only design exhibition featuring the innovative, passionate design of 2007’s graduating class.
Once accepted into SJSU’s selective Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design program, students share the same design classes for the next 24 months. In the past 2 years, our class of 24 designers has become very close—which is made all the more remarkable by the fact that for more than half of us, English is a second language.
Sweden, Iran, Taiwan, Latvia, the Philippines, Turkey—these are just a few of the home countries of the designers in our class.
PREFLIGHT, the theme of our show, recognizes the physical journeys we’ve made to get to our current point, as well as the metaphorical journey we’ll embark upon as we graduate from San José State and become designers in the “real world”.
PREFLIGHT is also a term used in the design industry to describe the process of double-checking a file before sending it to a printer. In a way, we view our show as a similar process—a final check of our creative abilities before the big send-off.
We’re ready. And we hope you are too.
